city of providence
designing for The Creative Capital
Shortly after graduating college, I started my career as a graphic designer for the City of Providence at City Hall. The position is under the Mayor’s Office, but I primarily work within the Communications Department creating graphic content and finding where design work is needed in other departments and for initiatives.
My print work for the city includes reports, brochures, rack cards, flyers, posters, signage and ads on large and small scales. Digital media I design includes social media graphics, infographics, web invitations, gifs, presentations and templates for other staff to use. While I'm often given all copy and translation, my design work starts at design concepts and brainstorming for innovative design solutions. My roles in any given task concludes with print production, working with local print shops or digital delivery. Other responsibilities I cover are brand graphic development, editing pre-existing content and reviewing design created by colleagues or other sources. My favorite projects I've worked on are any maps, most infographics and the City of Providence Coloring Book. One of the most difficult and largest projects I've worked on so far is Providence's Climate Justice Plan. The Neighborhood Association Toolkit is also an honorable mention for one of my more time-consuming projects.
The following page, #MaskUpPVD, further includes work I've done for the City of Providence.
